The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Many circumstances have, and will arise, which are not local, but universal, and through which the principles of all Lovers of Mankind are affected, and in the Event of which, their Affections are interested. The Publication of this new Edition hath been delayed, with a View of taking notice (had it been necessary) of any Attempt to refute the Doctrine of Independance: As no Answer hath yet appeared, it is now presumed that none will, the Time needful for getting such a Performance ready for the Public being considerably past. America has long been a beacon of light to all oppressed peoples. We have stood for personal freedom, endless possibilities, unalienable rights (unalienable-what happened to that?). At one time we could stand with our chests out, not with bravado, but with genuine pride. We stood with the David's of the world against Goliath. We fought for our beliefs and lived them, at least for most of us. We have been "baptized" by the fire of social injustice, economic disasters, and social consciousness to name a few, and we have emerged like the variable phoenix. Our nation has taken the hits that have broken many a regime and turned into something to be used for the greater good. Where else can you find a society that has uniquely taken the best of all your ?isms, discarded (for the most part) the bad, and added it to a healthy base of diversity and respect for your neighbor? You can argue what is wrong with our society all day long, but at the root, America has always been the very best humanity had to offer on earth anyway. Who the Author of this Production is, is wholly unnecessary to the Public, as the Object for Attention is the Doctrine itself, not the Man. Yet it may not be unnecessary to say, That he is unconnected with any Party, and under no sort of Influence public or private, but the influence of reason and principle. Philadelphia, February 14, 1776. My own political leanings are irrelevant. It does not matter what party I call myself affiliated with, whatever that means. I am not writing to you to push anyone's agenda. My aim is not to convert the masses, but to remind you, America of who and what you are, and to urge you take control of you government and your country. Of the origin and design of government in general, with concise remarks on the English Constitution. SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by wickedness; the former promotes our happiness positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher. A common thread in American life today is a general somnolent attitude about almost every important aspect or issue that should be a priority. We have, like children, closed our eyes, put our hands over our ears, and said, "No, no, no! We do not want to know what is really happening all around us. Our government and our troops can handle it!" Are you insane? Our government? If history has taught anything at all, it has definitely given credence to that old adage, "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." We have given the government absolute power over the last three and a half to four years. Trust in government is all well and good, but it is the average American's responsibility to keep government in line. You do not live in a monarchy where your leaders are simply born into their positions of power. Contrary to growing sentiment, you do no live in a theocracy were your religious leaders get to make laws as they see fit. You are really not in a parliamentary system where there is no discernable separation of power between the executive and the legislative branches of government. You live in a republic (not a democracy, but we will go into that later). Any and all abuse of power invested to the legislative and executive branches of our government should be checked not only by one another (Legislative checking the executive?), but also by the citizens. If you have a representative that has been abusing power, that has questionable ethics, that has shadows following him/her, it is your duty to check said representative. If he/she refuses to be checked, it is your duty to fire said representative. If you do nothing, then you share in the corruption and rot that has blighted this nation. You handed this person power by voting for them, and yet, you are refusing to check that power. Instead, fringe groups on the right and on the left are checking the representatives in Washington. Would you hand a teenager with a record for speeding and recklessness the keys to you car, then look the other way when the load the back seat with drunk, loud mouthed miscreants? This is different how? I am just an average conservative hippie veteran living in a very blue pocket of a very red state.

Global Initiative of Electronic Commerce Taxation; Guiding Principles for Pakistan 1. United States of America (USA) Trade Policy; Hurting Industry and Small Business The steel tariff taxes a few years ago hurt industry and small business and we as a civilization are still paying for that boo boo. This problem was affecting our team in my company and costing our franchisees money and ROI time, due to increased costs in new equipment. The increase in steel costs added $1800 to the trucks and $3000 to the truck beds? All over the import tax and the manipulation, which occurred due to supply and demand issues of the new pricing caused by those import taxes. Even still the steel industry did not have substantially higher profits and hurt were all the manufacturers such as ship builders, truck and car manufacturers. The FIRST FAMILY of the United States The Randolphs: Housing Bubble, Interest Rates, Timber Costs; What Has Changed? What has really changed in the housing market with regards to timber dumping from Canada, lumber costs since the Professional Building Magazine issue in Sept. 2001. How is this affecting the housing market or the predicted housing bubble burst which was suppose to cripple the economy. We have seen the Federal Reserve raise rates, lumber prices go up, still America was buying up new homes and joining the ownership society faster than at any other time in the history of our nation. Protecting Children From Porn There's a new Michigan state register (at https://www.protectmichild.com/) in the works to create a database of e-mail addresses that cannot (under penalty of the law) be spammed with content that could be deemed objectionable to children, most notably porn. The database will extend to include pager and cell phone numbers sometime in the future. Right now, it's sort of like the national DO NOT CALL registry, but for electronic mail. Clearing Land Mine Fields from the Air You know we have sent many, many army tanks with protruded devices used for minesweeping to the Middle East from the Logistics Base in our country. They are assigned to removing the left over land mines of past wars. Each year hundreds of thousands lose their lives and limbs to these past war buried relics. The army tanks which remove these devices have not really been redesigned since the second WW, hardly any real improvements in their designs. But it has occurred to me that you can sweep these mines from the air if you want. Here is how it might be done; first, a powerful helicopter drags flat plates of steel along the ground with skids, in front of that is heavy chains dragging approximately 20 yards connected to each other like the kind your used to level fields and scrap away dirt clods and then the chains of smaller size actually in the air attached to cables attached to the helicopter about 50ft AGL. Mexican Trucks in the United States; NAFTA Trade and Problems Expected new applications for Mexican trucks to enter the US to be over 9000 in 2005. Most of these newer applications will be to take freight to Port Los Angeles for shipping to Asian markets, and importing parts to be assembled and shipped to Mexico and later sold in the US. Many see a little bit of a problem with imported freight in LA stopping on its way to Mexico and unloaded somewhere without permits. Steel Import Tariff Taxes Hurt Industry, Not Help Them US Steel prices have cost franchisees in my company and our team thousands of extra dollars due to the import taxes, which were imposed. Let me tell everyone when they raised the cost of steel we were forced to seek to build the truck beds out of other materials, and once businesses do that many times they never go back and thus the steel industry is forever damaged. Steel is a strong substance and good for building things out of but it is heavy, costs gas mileage, rusts, leaving iron oxide streaks on the exterior paint. The only reason steel is still used for so many things is that the cost is still less than other materials of it's same strength, watch out in the future for nano tubes, five times lighter, three to 100 times stronger by volume. Federal Trade Commission Partnerships Questioned In many reports we see that the Federal Trade Commission has referenced the Better Business Bureau. It appears that the Federal Trade Commission is using this private business as an example and potential justification of their on-going rule making and regulation in many industry sectors and categories. Some feel that any association with the Better Business Bureau is bothersome in that if they are in constant alliance with the Federal Trade Commission then the Federal Trade Commission, is not watching their potential abuses or manipulations in the free market. Pending Oil Crisis Heavens, what are we up against? Government Workers and Lawyers Revolving Door Rule Needed We need more oversight and transparency in government. We need to keep our government workers honest and forthright. We need to prevent those who work for the government as lawyers for the government from going into private practice with the same companies they once enforced regulations on. The revolving door fo government lawyers and private practicing lawyers and lobbyists must stop if we are to maintain any real sense of integrity or fairness in our systems. You know, that "Truth, Justice and the American Way" thing that the government lawyers have such a tough time coping with? Count Rumford Why did FDR say Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Count Rumford were the three most important Americans? (1) Why did the Holy Roman Empire and the Hapsburgs make Benjamin Thompson a nobleman? James Bond had nothing on this man of mystery. Tax Attorney in Oregon or Washington; Does Your Small Business Have One? Tax Evasion has been used to criminalize many, Nixon did use the IRS to attack political opponents and to discredit them. Well here is one politician who is attacking the LOCAL small businesses who supposedly are evading taxes? Are they? Or is the miss management of the city coming to light and the politicians are looking for a scapegoat? International Terrorists Have US Partners; The Federal Trade Commission The Federal Trade Commission in their latest move to increase (MUD) Much Unnecessary Disclosure on the Franchisors of this Nation is helping the International Terrorists with in depth information. By requiring extra disclosure the FTC is making what would normally be private business information into public knowledge and part of the franchising rules required disclosure. Including addresses and names of all outlets and owners. The FTC will not even look into this complaint and continues to this day to jeopardize the American People's safety. The G-8 and Other Figureheads The Presidents Before Washington: Public Notaries We are having a problem in America with Public Notaries, in many states. There is required 'errors and omissions insurance' and it costs quite a bit of money and many people have quit the profession. Yet we all find it difficult with all the ridiculous formswe have to sign to find a notary when we need one. More than ever people require extra forms, always with a notary. I applaud Gate's idea of passport and the others like AOL that copied his ideas. I applauded those who have now started using e-signatures. I applaud agencies, which have passwords, and you can do your forms online. I am also 100% behind the IRS in their e-filing progress. They have certainly streamlined things haven't they?
