The Public Is Enemy Number One
There is something egregiously wrong about a government that will not listen to its people especially in, dare I say it, a democracy. Poll after poll warns that people are opposed to the government's specious solutions for social security, they are opposed to the Medicaid cuts and they are opposed to congress in general, opinion showing the majority of people believe those on the hill are doing a poor job overall. Polls also show that consumer confidence is down and, tellingly, the only large retail company still making any money is Wal-mart. And since the government didn't listen to anyone concerning the bankruptcy bill overhaul, there were probably quite a few people stampeding the bankruptcy court system in light of the new laws favoring big business, especially credit card companies in whose grip most people's financial lives hang by a thread. In fact, it would probably be safe to say that quite a few people may feel rather that they are the prime targets of a peevishly suspicious federal government which seems to have suddenly decided that its current worst enemy is the American citizen. In the past few months, the government has accused its citizenry of defrauding corporations by filing for bankruptcy when they can no longer bear the crushing weight of catastrophic medical bills. Ordinary folks have also been derided for abusing Medicaid by asking it to pay for drugs that cost more than their mortgages did thirty years ago. And some of these same offenders have or will put social security in crisis by having the temerity to actually make it a part of their retirement funds. The self-esteem of average Americans has gotten pretty low but sad to say officialdom hasn't finished with them yet. People who are still working and lucky enough and healthy enough to have health insurance, no credit card debt and are still years away from collecting social security (and with the government's constant griping have written it off anyway) have now been identified and targeted. Forget about outsourcing to India. Big business has been asking its buddies in Washington for permission to import more foreign workers (euphemistically called foreign talent) through the H-1B visa program. Critics say this would essentially be a ticket to replace American workers in their own homeland. For what reasons you may ask would benevolent big business want to do such a thing? The public is being told that corporations can't find enough highly-skilled, technical workers to fill jobs whose description the companies won't tell them because it would be too much for American pea-brains to comprehend. Needless to say, they ain't qualified. And what about those not-so-technical jobs being filled by illegal, I mean, legal immigrants? Apparently Americans are too lazy and spoiled for these jobs and don't want do the work that some immigrants will do for far less money. The cads. It's bad enough to find out that your government thinks you're a slacker, a thief, and a bum, but now you find out it has big business on its side saying you're lazy to boot. Wait a minute. Lazy is the common denominator in most of the latest public policy decisions. The subliminal message in all the government's diatribe. Which probably means that most people in the eyes of the conservative-dominated official class are lazy, good-for-nothing bums not deserving of any listening to. Well, no surprise there. Protecting Our Buses from International Terrorists We know that the International Terrorists like the idea of attacking buses as we watch every week another attack in Israel. There have many ideas on how buses like Greyhound might protect the drivers through use of a high-tech ultra-strength plastic shields or enclosed see-through boxes. Lately Canada and the FBI in United States have been looking at tour buses traveling into the country, looking into the riders and drivers. I once had a call from a Tour Bus Operator in Ontario Canada on his way to Florida Coast with Tourists, he was going to stop in Columbus GA or Across the river in Phoenix City, Alabama for the night and was needing a Bus Wash. (My company washes Buses; http://www.BusWashGuys.com ). Operation Iraqi Freedom, Soldiers and Their Psyche Have you noticed that the when the service men who have been killed in action in this war, that the journalists go harass the families and girlfriends or wives of the fallen soldiers? During these interviews I could not help but notice that the infantry warriors killed had girlfriends or wives who were full figured ethnic woman or young ladies. The inner city kind with the tough attitude; Why is this? I have several ideas why. Here they are: First one is that military bases are in areas that are usually tough neighborhoods, they are near logistical locations with railroad tracks and lots of noise from the base thus richer people do not live near by creating an ethnic type area of population diversity. Notice in any city there is a MLK Blvd. Always near the railroad tracks and is either connected to runs through an industrial area. Near Military bases are always industrial areas for civilian contractors who service the bases needs. Also logistics such as commissary needs, trucking, heavy industrial needs, etc. All this means that the nearest entertainment and release for the soldiers will be right off base nearby and in a rough neighborhood. Thus any person that the warrior meet would be one tough enough to hold her own in the rough neighborhood, such as a sassy full figured women who is local or travels to meet the young studs. So this mental health hospital; all these kids who have health care degrees scour the area to find these kids from poor people and sign them up at the hospital. The hospital is huge. No wonder all these kids who are perfectly healthy are going to the hospital to get checks up. They use up all $3,000 per month for each kid. HMOs want body count, they want to get paid per month per body, so they want to get the people in, and get them out and bill for $3,000.00 Anglo-Israelism and the Flesh Recently a friend insisted that I read a book by Steven M.Collins, titled The "Lost" Ten Tribes of Israel...Found! This book tries to convince people that the "Lost" tribes of Israel after being uprooted by the Assyrians, started colonies all over the world and then ultimately migrated to Britain and then to America. The book attempts to prove in 439 pages what has been known as British- or Anglo-Israelism. The book was originally written in 1992 and was revised in 1995 and is gaining influence in some "patriot" circles. Some people who hold this theory are racists, following from their fleshly or carnal understanding of the outworking of God's covenant in history exclusively along racial lines. A major thesis of the book is that the Jews (Judah) and Israelites are two separate and distinct peoples and kingdoms who must never be confused. Mr. Collins says, "...the Jews ceased to be part of the kingdom named Israel" (23). The author goes on to say that "the term 'Israel' does not apply to Jews from the time of the divided kingdom forward" (23). Is this true? This is not a comprehensive review of Collins' book. There are numerous problems in this book, some of which are dealt with below. A scary notion indeed; bet we all hope he is wrong about that. In studying the reports and having thoughts on this matter; it seems we might still end up in a war over these issues. Should we use warfare to serve our political will and if we try we should do so in a cost conscious manner. Here are some thoughts on winning a military victory against North Korea to serve our political forthwith. First it would appear we have many allies in the region, including some from not so far away. Pakistan a potential partner in the over taking of the government is just iching to flex it's perceived military might and make friends with us after we got upset at the non capture of Osama Bin Laden and kind of asked about why he might have hidden briefly in Pakistan. One CIA man has potentially targeted Pakistan as aiding and giving comfort to our enemy there? But Pakistan also wants some F-16s and of course we want them to buy such aircraft from us. Meanwhile the Israelis see China as a good market to sell the latest warfare technologies? But who might China be looking at as it builds up its forces, it has no enemies that large? Or does it; as in the United States? Positive People Power - Taking Control By Being Proactive NOT Reactive! WE MUST PUT A STOP TO THE EVER-INCREASING PRICE OF OIL! Cars Wealth Distribution is often discussed at length in periodicals such as American Demographics Magazine, much of this information does not hit the main stream media. A recent article on the huge transfer of wealth to the Baby Boomers, revealed some very interesting facts about such trends in the United State. The amount of money expected to transfer is an unbelievable. What may surprise you is that many of these wealth older generation folks have skip generation trusts and much of that money will end up in the hands of X'ers, while still a good portion will end up with the baby boomers. Actually both groups we have studied buy cars, SUVs, Boats, Light Aircraft, Houses and Pick-ups. Why does this excite me? Well personally it excites me a businessman because I see opportunity to serve the needs of the active aging. Last year the Alaska Fire burned over 280,000 acres in the very first day and it continued to grow as all big fires do. Obviously the Spruce Forest is an important natural resource. An ongoing debate is do we tackle these fires or let them burn themselves out clearing the younger trees and underbrush build up? Luckily in this case we got some help from Mother Nature to save some of the spruce forest there, yes you guessed it; Rain! Hawala, or The Bank That Never Was I. Recently they admitted over 160 people died and today they now admit it was actually 460 people. 13,000 birds have been incinerated and this is only in the Western Province of Qinghai; there is also an outbreak in Southern China too. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act The Sarbanes-Oxley Act Was created on July 30th 2002, by Senator Paul Sarbanes and Representative Michael Oxley, who drafted the bill. It followed a series of high profile scandals. Its objective is to protect investors by improving the accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosures made pursuant to the securities laws.
